My Weber Q Grill doesn’t get hot–even after bypass reset?

I went to the Weber site and did the reset for “bypass” as suggested in their FAQ. It did get a bit warmer, but it is definitely not hot. I can hold my hand several inches above the grill for an extended time while on High (after allowing it to heat for 10+ minutes).

We’ve been using the Weber Q for a couple of years now and I was surprised at how low the flame seems to be when there is no food on the grill. As a gauge for you to compare, I always get it started on high, close the cover, and let it have 10 minutes to get hot. The cover actually gets quite hot to the touch (cannot touch it for more than about 1 second).

I then reduce the fire setting to medium on the dial for direct-fire grilling items like steaks, burgers, etc. and always grill with the cover down to maintain a consistent temperature and reduce flare-ups. We get consistently excellent results.

Your HVAC guy is right that something as slight as a spider web can disrupt the gas flow. You might also want to call the Weber customer support phone number. They were excellent when we had to get replacement parts for an old, cherished charcoal grill.
